That suits my style of martial arts?
I took several tests and "Aikido" as a result. I would like to take martial arts on particularly for self-defense and to strengthen my self confidence. I think that aikido and karate would be nice, but I have no idea what the differences and is "better" (also know when I receive the next belt? I mean how long will it take me to the next level? Say white belt to yellow, from yellow to orange, etc. ..
Thanks for your answers!
Here is the difference between Aikido and Karate: Aikido – An Art defense martial. You are not to attack his opponet in Aikido. React when someone grabs you (Aikido trains normally grabs the wrist) or is about to strike. In any case their resonse is to pull on the ground. In Aikido the goal is to inflict as much pain and very little damage as possible to your opponet. It is the ultimate goal of Aikido to defend themselves while simultaneously protecting your opponet. Once you have Aikido in the field they put you on a pin of Aikido (The opponet has her face and stomach to the ground. one arm is stretched with Aikidoka in control of it). There are very few strikes in Aikido. The few strikes that have are used to distract or configure an opponet to launch best. Karate – Karate is kicking and punching. The use of "HeeYah" type sound when attacks are launched. Have some shots and takedowns. However, it is mainly about hitting your opponet with kicks …). all the weapons you have (fists, knees, head, goals target the weaknesses in the body like the throat, eyes, nose, groin, knees, etcetra. These are the differences. They are very different from each other. To the extent that one is "better" depends on how look. Aikido for self defense is acceptable. If you are very skilled in Aikido should be able to have at least basic skills of self-defense, if needed. However, Aikido have much time to get that skill. It can be taken as 8 years for a Black Belt. To use against an attacker for several years would have grave. In my opinion, would require a minimum of 3 years to a maximum of 8 years to reach this level. It's a complicated martial art to learn. You have to learn from the United Nations, the trend your body to use force to beat someone. It is difficult for the United Nations to learn this. Aikido is also very weak if someone takes you to the ground with them. In a groundfight Aikido is almost useless and will not help. A lot of people say bad things about Aikido for self defense practice. I would say that if I do not mind waiting to learn some basic self-defense, may face is the lack of defense groundfighting, and as the unique nature of Aikido can then be for you. Karate is acceptable to self-defense as well. You would be able to use against a serious attacker long before Aikido. A punch or kick a weak sport in the body are proven methods to hurt an attacker. However, karate is also weak on the ground. If a karateka was taken to the land which mainly have to invoke some sort of strikes in the eyes of the attackers, throat, ears, nose, etc. to defend themselves. This is not as good as trusted. Karate also has a reputation of being slow to fight. Is like a robot to fight someone, rigid, slow. It has this reputation. The best type of Karate (in my opinion) is the Kyokushin karate. It is full contact fighting and contests. Kyokushin is definitely good for self-defense. Other styles of karate that I am not familiar. So if you were a black belt in Karate or Aikido would basic self-defense skills at least. What would be better in the Black Belt is a matter of opinion. But between the two, I would go with Karate. You can learn faster, more practical, less complicated. I think it could get more of Karate for your needs. How long does it take in going from one belt to the next I'm not sure. I would say at least 6 months or less. They are not martial arts out there that are better prepared to defend Aikido or Karate. But they tend to be very hard and has to endure a certain amount of pain and possible injury. Some who fall into this category are: Mixed Martial Arts (Cagefighting) Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Sambo, Submission Wrestling, Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, San Shou, etc. .. Some others, who generally are not as tough, but it would be good for self-defense: Jeet Kune Do, Krav Maga, Kenpo, and Kung-Fu. So, you can see some of the arts on the Internet and see what we are about too. The rest of the martial arts may or may not work for you. This martial arts are the ones I recommend for its own defense objectives confindence. But between Aikido and Karate, Karate definitely take. Aikido just have too much time to learn self-defense. Karate teaches you things that you can use for itself the defense right from day one.
